Sunflower Showdown!!

Last week we did several football activities for the Sunflower Showdown.  I think the kids really got into learning about KSU and KU during the week.  As well as all the fun football activities that went with them.

We made some super cute cheerleaders and football players.  For some reason most of the girls were K-State fans and most of the boys were KU fans. 

 

We also made a graph to show how the kids thought would win...I promise I didn't sway the vote any!

This week will we will be learning about the pumpkin life cycle and doing some fun math and writing activities with pumpkins.  We will also start to learn about spiders.

In Math we will be working on our doubles and using a number line this week.  In spelling we continue to work on the ck at the end of words.

Conference Week

This week we don't have as much going on because we are only in school 3 days!!

Last week we finished up some Eric Carle art projects. I think they look awesome in our hallway!

We will continue to work on butterfly life cycles in science. In math we are still working on addition and subtraction sentences as well as some word problems. Today we started working with doubles, ask your child about the fun video we watched!

 At conferences we are going to talk about our spelling and goals in reading and writing. I will also share some information about some new and exciting things that will be going on in the classroom! If you have any questions or concerns be sure to let me know at conferences.

Week of Sep. 17

Next week we will have lots of things going on in school.

We are going to be learning about our 5 senses, and caterpillars / butterflies in science.  Check your child's folder for a note about the 5 senses!

We will also be taking our first spelling test, so be sure to ask your kids about all then things we do in class to get ready for that.  The first test will be on Wednesday, and second chance test on Friday.  If you child gets 100% on the first day they will not take it on Friday.

State Fair Fun!

This week we went to the state fair and we had a great time!!

I asked the parent volunteers to help me with an ABC book of our day at the fair.  So here is a sneak peek at some of our pictures!

Welcome to our blog!!

Welcome to our first grade blog.  We hope you stop by often to see what we are doing!

The first of the year seems to go by so fast.  We have several exciting things planned for next week.  We will be working on writing our own stories and illustrating them.  We will work on writing basic equations, and start our Pathways small groups!

Don't forget the fair is coming up next week too!  Each child needs to have $3 at school by Monday for the gate entry and some snack money here by Tuesday.
